Summary: More than two decades ago, we saw the adaptation of Stephen King’s classical tale of how fear can bring out both the very worst and the very best out of us, be it while we're kids or adults. Now, the Dancing Clown comes back, and he's worse than ever. Get ready to float...

History: Pennywise is as you remember him. A horrific eldritch being that feeds on the fear and suffering of mortals. He came to Earth millions of years ago in what would become Derry, Maine. Every 27 years, he causes horrific murders, with children being his favorite target. Now, he's set his sights on the Losers Club, the gang of misfits who are more than a little miffed that he killed one of their own's little brother.

Notable Kills: The very murder mentioned up there that kickstarts the plot. It's perhaps the worst depiction in any adaptation.

Final Fate: As kids, the Losers overcome their fear of Pennywise, and beat him into retreating. As adults, the trials are stronger, some actually die, but Pennywise's desire to kill them in one place backfires when they overcome their fears again, and in spite of him trying to put up a fight, they force him to shrink into an infant-like form so they can rip out his heart and crush it. The being can only comment on how much they had grown before fizzling out forever.

Powers/Abilities: Pennywise is a master shapeshifter, taking the form of whatever scares you the most. He is also a grand manipulator of reality, capable of twisting your mind and the entire environment around him. If push comes to shove, he unleashes his true form, the Deadlights, which cause people to go into a catatonic state and possibly even go mad with too much exposure.

Weakness: Anyone who overcomes their fears and cannot be swayed by his actions stands a really good chance of reducing him to a vulnerable sniveling wreck.

Scariness Factor: 4.5-Unlike Tim Curry's scary yet utterly hammy performance, Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise skips most of the affable behavior and gets right to being the scariest clown you've ever seen. His forms are more visceral, he's more violent than ever, and the scenes where he decides to bear his teeth will haunt your dreams forever. All of that said, his final form's a bit of a letdown, and both of his defeats in the end truly emphasize how utterly pathetic he is when we recognize him for the big bully he really is. Be warned though. He won't make the victory an easy one.

Trivia: -A number of actors were considered for Pennywise in the long pre-production of this film. They included Hugo Weaving, Jim Carey, Tom Hiddleston, Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe, Paul Giamatti, Doug Jones, Channing Tatum, and even Tilda Swinton.

-As one might guess, almost none of the cast were allowed to interact with Skarsgard so long as he was in his Pennywise getup. That way, the scares would be more effective.

Pennywise is suddenly regretting this form.

(Spider-Man 2 Pizza theme intensifies)

Nintendo's Balloon Man takes a horrifying turn.

"Nothing was right until I smiled...especially what came after..."

Take a magical journey into Hell...

He's rocking this form, though.
